Did troopers break department policy by accepting gifts?

Overjoyed by his unexpected casino winnings last spring, Gov. Ed Rendell shared his good fortune with his state police security detail, but in accepting the governor’s generosity, the troopers broke a department policy, according to a state police spokeswoman.
The department’s regulations bar troopers from accepting gifts of any sort.
Cpl. Linette Quinn, a spokeswoman for the state police, said “we will review department policy surrounding such matters.” She declined to say whether the incident itself would be subject to further investigation.
