ALBANY, N.Y. - The former trooper at the center of allegations that a rogue state police unit did dirty tricks for two New York governors has been fired from his job at the New York Power Authority, a spokeswoman said Friday.
NYPA spokesman Christine Pritchard told The Associated Press that Daniel Wiese, the former head of the security details for governors George Pataki and Eliot Spitzer, was fired at the end of the business day on Friday. She said there would be no further comment.

Pataki appointed Wiese, who is a longtime confidant of the Republican and Spitzer, a Democrat who resigned in March after he was identified in a prostitution investigation.
Pataki also appointed most of the members of the NYPA board that took Friday’s action against Wiese.
Wiese was paid $225,000 a year, drawing salary as inspector general for NYPA while also collecting his state police pension under an arrangement approved by Pataki, but contested by the Legislature.
