MILFORD – Pike County Sheriff Phil Bueki told the Pike County Commissioners that he would like Pike citizens to send emails to their state legislators in support of House Bill 466. This bill would restore current powers to the sheriffs and deputy sheriffs of Pennsylvania.

Bueki noted that the State Police Troopers Association has filed a block on House Bill 466 which is why he is urging all citizens to let their state legislators know they should support the bill and help restore current powers to the sheriff’s office.

Trooper charged with obstruction in cousin’s 1997 crash

(AP) Friday, March 13, 2008

A state trooper faces obstruction charges for allegedly arriving at a car crash involving his cousin and failing to tell the investigating trooper that the cousin was a wanted man.

At the time of the September 1997 crash in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, Trooper Raphael Christopher’s cousin, David Buckner, of Philadelphia, was wanted for a 1994 parole violation for armed robbery, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday by state police Cpl. William Tucker.

Buckner, a passenger in the crash, refused to give his last name to the investigating officer, according to court documents.

Police said Christopher arrived and identified the passenger as his cousin to the other trooper, Daniel Zaykowski, and asked what name the cousin provided. Zaykowski said the cousin was being uncooperative, to which Christopher replied, “He’s good, he’s alright. Don’t worry about it, brother. He’s good,” according to charging documents. Trial continues in Schlier’s suit vs. state police

WILKES-BARRE – A lawsuit filed by Schlier’s Towing & Service Center against Pennsylvania state police is now in its second week of trial in U.S. District Court.

Schlier’s alleges the state police commissioner failed to have the tow company placed back on the state police list of towing service referrals, thus helping deprive the company of business.

Former Harrisburg state trooper charged with obstruction of justice

REGGIE SHEFFIELD, Of The Patriot-News Wednesday March 12, 2008, 12:04 PM

A former Pennsylvania State Trooper from Harrisburg has been charged in U.S. Middle DistrictCourt with obstructing justice for exchanging sexual favors for information on criminal investigations in local prostitution related activities.

An information filed by federal officials alleges that Kevin J. Coleman, 42, of Harrisburg, tipped off pimps and prostutitutes on the progress of an investigation into prostitution-related activites at the Gables Truck Stop in East Hanover Twp., Dauphin County.
